Step Into the Forest is an interactive VR forest monitoring experience based on activities led by a group of women forest monitors in Semende, South Sumatra. Visitors enter the forest through their perspective and learn how community monitoring contributes to forest protection. By grounding the experience in women’s actual work, it presents forest protection not as an abstract environmental issue but as an everyday practice led by communities. The experience is designed as an experimental learning tool for youth, the public, climate practitioners, and development partners. By combining technology and community knowledge, this approach shows the connections between women’s leadership, community participation, forest governance, and climate action.
