Nature-based and bioeconomy approaches are emerging across different regions of the Global South, shaped by local ecosystems, communities, markets, policies, and development priorities. While the contexts differ, many actors face similar questions around how to create economic value from natural resources while maintaining ecological integrity and ensuring benefits reach communities. Indonesia's emerging bioeconomy agenda provides one perspective within this broader conversation, linking natural resources, innovation, value chains, livelihoods, and economic development. Experiences from other countries can offer complementary lessons on how these approaches are being developed, governed, financed, and connected to markets. This session creates a space for practitioners, policymakers, businesses, community leaders, investors, and ecosystem actors from Indonesia and other Global South regions to exchange practical experiences, including lessons from approaches that have worked, challenges encountered along the way, and opportunities for collaboration.
