Young Community Organizers Supporting Women’s Collective Leadership: Experiences from Indonesia

This panel brings together four young community organizers from South Sumatra and West Nusa Tenggara. They will share how they work alongside women’s groups to develop livelihoods based on forest products, while ensuring that economic opportunities remain compatible with forest protection. Their experiences will show how community organizers adapt activities to women’s daily realities, strengthen group management, connect communities with village governments and forest management institutions, and support groups as they learn, try different approaches, and gradually become more independent. This panel positions youth not simply as participants in climate programs, but as organizers and facilitators who support communities in building relationships with institutions and strengthening collective action
