Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Bangkok Climate Action Week?

Bangkok Climate Action Week (BKKCAW) is an annual city-based climate festival that mobilises individuals, communities, and institutions to co-create transformative change. Through creativity, dialogue, and bold collaboration, it transforms ideas into action. The inaugural event will take place from 28 September to 4 October 2025 across various venues in Bangkok, including the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) and many more.

    Who organises BKKCAW?

BKKCAW is organised by the Just Transitions Incubator (JUTI) in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The initiative is inspired and supported by London Climate Action Week (LCAW), Europe's largest independent climate gathering.

What types of events will take place as part of BKKCAW?

Think of BKKCAW as a city-wide stage for climate creativity. It’s a completely new type of week-long festival, a decentralised participatory platform where climate meets culture, community, and climate action. Each event will be designed, planned, funded, and organised by a participating partner, who will submit their proposal for an event to be selected and amplified as part of the official programme by the BKKCAW team. Youth, creatives, grassroots, and non-traditional players are especially welcome. Events of all sizes and formats are encouraged!

    Here are a few examples:

    • Talks

    • Fireside chats

    • A community watch party or film screening

    • Markets

    • Immersive and Participatory Art Projects & Exhibitions

    • Performances, i.e. dance, theatre, music, comedy

    • Educational Activities, i.e. workshops, debates, panel discussions

    • Food Stalls

    • And more!

BKKCAW enables the ecosystem to host their events independently while leveraging the mission, platform, brand, and audience of BKKCAW to enhance their impact.

Can I contribute to an event or activity?

Think of BKKCAW as an amplification platform rather than a central event organiser. As a stakeholder-led initiative, each event is created and funded by the participating partners. We're here to uplift, connect, and showcase your work as part of a shared commitment to climate action.

Who can organise or host an event?

Anyone passionate about climate action is welcome to participate! This could be NGOs, grassroots initiatives, embassies, small and medium enterprises, international organisations, academic institutions, creative studios, individuals, collectives and more. If you have an idea that supports climate dialogue, education, or action, we’d love to hear from you! Please note that BKKCAW is an amplification platform, not a central event organiser. It’s a stakeholder-led initiative, which means each event is independently organised and funded by the amazing partners who take part. We’re here to support, connect, and spotlight your efforts as part of a collective effort for climate action.

I’ve never organised a public event before - can I still participate?

Absolutely. BKKCAW is designed to be inclusive and low-barrier. If you have an idea, we want to hear from you, no fancy production required. We’re especially excited to support first-time organisers and grassroots initiatives.

How will BKKCAW ensure diverse voices are included?

We prioritise representation across generations, genders, classes and lived experiences. Our open call and programming process are designed to centre community voices and intersectional climate leadership.

How do I register my event or submit an event proposal?

It’s simple, just submit your proposal through our website: bangkokclimateactionweek.org/get-involved. We encourage you to share as many details as possible so we can better understand your vision and support your participation. Just a quick reminder: BKKCAW is an amplification platform rather than a central event organiser. As a stakeholder-led initiative, each event is created and funded by the participating partners. We're here to uplift, connect, and showcase your work as part of a shared commitment to climate action.

If we have multiple ideas of events and activities, should we submit them individually, or is it better to group them into a single submission?

Please submit each idea as a separate submission. This ensures that our team can review and evaluate each proposal on its own merits, giving it the focused attention it deserves. Submitting ideas individually also helps us better understand your vision for each activity and how it aligns with our program goals.

My event has multiple organisers. Should each of us submit a proposal?

No, only one submission is needed per event. Please list all partners under the “Main Organiser (s)” and “Collaborators” sections of the form.

Are there specific responsibilities for event organisers in terms of venue setup, translation, or technical equipment?

What language should my event be in?

BKKCAW is multilingual. We welcome events in any language; the most important thing is that your audience feels included. Consider interpretation or bilingual materials if you want to reach broader audiences.

Is there any requirement to make sure my event is selected in the official BKKCAW programming?

We’re looking for proposals that are innovative, engaging and grounded in climate awareness, sustainability and community empowerment. While there are no rigid requirements, events that align with our Guiding Principles will be strongly considered:

    • Courage & Integrity: Align your event with real climate action: through action, dialogue, or inspiration that meaningfully contributes to a safe climate for all.

    • Inclusivity & Accessibility: Make your event open to all where possible. Reduce barriers, invite underrepresented voices, and foster a truly welcoming, diverse space.

    • Localisation & Relevance: Make it relevant to the Thai or Southeast Asian context to promote cultural resonance, regional relevance, and place-based climate engagement.

    • Openness & Experimentation: Welcome new voices and ideas. Try unconventional formats that encourage creativity, learning, and inclusive climate engagement.

    • Cross-cutting Benefits: Design events that support people, planet, and place - simultaneously creating cultural, social, and environmental benefits for all involved.

    • Safety & Care: Ensure physical, emotional, and cultural safety through clear guidelines, supportive practices, and sensitive facilitation throughout your event.

Can we attend as stakeholders or embassy representatives?

Absolutely! BKKCAW is open to everyone, including stakeholders, embassy representatives, civil society groups, creatives, and the general public. We believe that collaboration across all sectors is key to making climate action impactful.

Can I receive updates on the program timeline and activities being lined up?

Yes! We’re currently in the open call phase, so the full program will start to take shape after the submission period closes on June 30th. More details about the schedule, structure, and activities will be available in July. We’re working to ensure that each event is thoughtfully positioned to reach its ideal audience.

We ask that all proposals be submitted through the BKKCAW website with as much information as possible, because it helps us better understand your vision and find the right support or venue match if needed.

  • Who is covering the costs of the events taking place during BKKCAW?

BKKCAW is a stakeholder-led initiative, which means that each event is organised and funded by the participating partners. We celebrate the creativity and independence of our partners, and we’re here to support with promotion, branding, and a sense of community around your event!

    Is there an application fee?

No, applying is completely free! That said, event organisers are responsible for covering their own event costs.

Will there be any costs involved for organising or participating in a panel session?

There are no fees to submit or participate in a panel session through BKKCAW. However, since BKKCAW is a stakeholder-led platform, participating organisations are responsible for covering their own event-related costs (eg.: tech rental, catering, live-streaming, interpretation services, venue decoration, etc).

Are BKKCAW events free to attend?

In most cases, yes - but it depends on the organiser! Each partner sets their own format, so events may be free, ticketed, or invite-only. We encourage accessibility whenever possible. All event details will be clearly listed in the official BKKCAW programme.

Will the venues provided for the program be free of charge?

Venue arrangements are still being finalised, so we cannot confirm specific details at this stage. However, we anticipate a mix: some venues may be offered free of charge, while others could require rental fees. We will share more information as soon as the venue curation process is complete.

  • Can I request a venue or do I need to arrange my own?

You have options! In the application form, you can let us know whether you already have a venue in mind or if you’d like help finding one. The BKKCAW team is happy to support you by matching you with a suitable space, based on your event’s format, size and technical needs. Please note, however, that venue support is not guaranteed. Matches depend on the availability of partner venues, how well the space aligns with your event’s requirements, and the overall number of requests we receive. We’ll do our best to accommodate your needs and will stay in touch during the process to explore the best available options together.

    What venues are available?

We’re still in the process of collecting and confirming venue options, and our venue submission form remains open. If you require a venue, simply indicate this in your event submission form—we’ll do our best to match you with a space that suits your needs.

    Are outdoor venues allowed?

Yes, outdoor venues are absolutely welcome! Just keep in mind that September-October is the rainy season in Bangkok, so we recommend considering venues that have indoor or hybrid options, especially if your event relies on tech or dry weather.

    What technical/logistical/catering support is provided?

Each program partner is responsible for organising their own event, including logistics, tech needs, and catering, directly coordinated with the venue. While BKKCAW doesn’t offer hands-on support, we can help match you with a suitable space if you indicate your requirements in the submission form.

How can I make my event climate-conscious?

All event partners will receive our Sustainable Event Management Toolkit - full of tips and resources to help you walk the talk, reduce your event’s footprint, and align with the spirit of BKKCAW.

Are there requirements for making events accessible?

Yes, accessibility is important to us. We encourage all event partners to consider inclusivity in their planning, whether that’s physical accessibility, language support, or offering virtual attendance options when possible.

  • Will our event be promoted by Bangkok Climate Action Week?

Yes, Bangkok Climate Action Week (BKKCAW) actively promotes partner events across its official social media platforms. Your event may be featured in curated posts that highlight the diversity and impact of programming during the week. This helps increase visibility and engagement within the broader community of climate-conscious audiences.

Can we use the official logo?

Yes, all official BKKCAW partners and stakeholders will receive access to a digital toolkit that includes branding assets such as the official logo. This toolkit provides clear guidelines and resources to support consistent and effective communications, making it easy to share and promote your event as part of the broader BKKCAW campaign.
