General
Bangkok Climate Action Week (BKKCAW) is an annual city-based climate festival that mobilises individuals, communities, and institutions to co-create transformative change. Through creativity, dialogue, and bold collaboration, it transforms ideas into action. The inaugural event will take place from 3 to 11 October 2026 across various venues in Bangkok.
BKKCAW is organised by the Just Transitions Incubator (JUTI) in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The initiative is inspired and supported by London Climate Action Week (LCAW), Europe's largest independent climate gathering.
Think of BKKCAW as a city-wide stage for climate creativity. It’s a completely new type of week-long festival. A decentralised participatory platform where climate meets culture, community, and climate action. Each event will be designed, planned, funded, and organised by the participating partner, who will submit their proposal for an event to be selected and amplified as part of the official programme by the BKKCAW team. Youths, creatives, grassroots, and non-traditional players are especially welcome. Events of all sizes and formats are encouraged! Here are a few examples: Talks / Panel Discussion Fireside chats A community watch party or film screening Markets Immersive and Participatory Art Projects & Exhibitions Performances, i.e. dance, theatre, music, comedy Educational Activities, i.e. workshops, debates, pan Food Stalls And more! BKKCAW enables the everyday citizenry to host their events independently while leveraging the mission, platform, brand, and audience of BKKCAW to enhance their impact.
BKKCAW has 10 mains themes/clusters: - Art and Culture - Education - Cities and Mobility - Community - Food Systems - Economy - Energy - Health & Wellbeing - Nature and Biodiversity - Education There are 6 important cross-cutting agendas that we encourage all events to include in their design: Policy and Governance - Area-Based Collaboration - Economy and Finance - Social Change Mechanisms - Behaviour Change - Regional Cooperation
It depends on the event. Some events are open-door and you can simply turn up - others are ticketed or have limited capacity and require registration in advance. Each event listed in the official BKKCAW programme will clearly show whether registration is needed and how to sign up. We recommend checking early for workshops and film screenings, which tend to fill up quickly.
