Thailand's Youth Poetry Slam

The Thailand Youth Poetry Slam is a spoken word competition for young poets aged 8–17 from across Thailand. The competition has two categories: Junior (age 8-12) and Senior (13-17). Prizes and certificates will be awarded to participating students. Students will perform their original poems on stage, using their voices, emotions and creativity to express their ideas, experiences and perspectives. It is a fun and empowering opportunity for young people to speak up, be heard, and connect with others through poetry. Students may perform solo, in pairs, or in groups of up to four. All poems must be original and may be performed in English, Thai, or a bilingual format. The event is open to the public and celebrates youth voices, creativity, diversity and community. We hope to bring young poets, teachers, families and audiences together to listen, learn and be inspired by the next generation of storytellers. We also hope that this event will be the beginning of a growing Thailand-wide youth poetry community, creating opportunities for schools and educators in different provinces to connect, collaborate, and perhaps even organise youth poetry slams in their own communities in the future. Theme: We Destine : The World We Want to Live in The future is not something that happens to us-it is something we create. As part of Bangkok Climate Action Week, this year's Youth Slam theme, "We Destine: The World We Want to Live in," invites young people to imagine the future they want to live in and the role they play in shaping it. From climate justice and sustainability to community, hope, and resilience, participants are encouraged to reflect on the choices we make today and how they influence tomorrow. What kind of world are we building? What responsibilities do we carry? What gives us hope? Through poetry and spoken word, young voices are invited to dream, question, challenge, and inspire action towards a more just and sustainable future.
