ASEAN Youth Dialogue on Climate and Energy

About this event

ASEAN faces interconnected challenges arising from climate change, environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, and the transition to more sustainable and resilient economies. These challenges have implications for young people, who are among the most affected by the long-term impacts of climate change, and will play a critical role in shaping the region’s future. At the same time, young people across ASEAN are taking action in their communities, developing innovative solutions, advocating for climate policies, and contributing to environmental and social movements. Despite their growing engagement, opportunities for youth to participate meaningfully in regional climate policy dialogue remain limited and need further expansion. Thus, this dialogue will convene ASEAN youth and partners during the Bangkok Climate Action Week for a regional dialogue on climate and energy. This dialogue will provide a platform for participants to exchange experiences, share approaches, and refl ect on emerging opportunities and challenges in advancing youth-led climate action. The dialogue also aims to foster connections among youth, civil society, and institutional actors, creating opportunities for continued cooperation and knowledge exchange. The dialogue will particularly explore pathways for regional youth collaboration in the areas of energy transition, the climate-biodiversity nexus, and climate fi nance. Through peer-to-peer learning and engagement with stakeholders, participants will strengthen their knowledge, leadership, and capacity to contribute meaningfully to climate policy discussions and collective youth-led action across the ASEAN region. Objectives: 1. Strengthen the capacity of youth leaders through exposure to practical climate action initiatives. Participants will enhance their knowledge, skills, and leadership in environmental sustainability and policy dialogue. 2. Facilitate the exchange of experiences and best practices among ASEAN youth and development partners to promote peer-to-peer learning. 3. Foster opportunities for formal and informal cooperation and exchange among youth, civil society, and institutional partners. 4. Identify pathways for regional youth-led action in the energy transition, climate-biodiversity nexus, and climate fi nance. 5. Create a space for meaningful youth participation in regional climate dialogue, enabling young people to articulate their perspectives, identify common priorities, and contribute to discussions on ASEAN climate action.
