About this event

IEEFA is hosting a one-day summit as part of Bangkok Climate Action Week 2026, bringing together leading voices from across energy, finance, policy, and civil society to examine some of the most important questions shaping Asia’s energy transition. Asia is where much of the global energy transition will be decided. Energy demand is rising rapidly, while volatility in global energy markets has pushed energy security to the top of the agenda for many of the region’s price-sensitive economies. The challenge, and opportunity, is to turn these pressures into progress: building greater energy resilience while unlocking new investment and economic opportunities. On 7 October, IEEFA’s analysts and invited experts will come together in Bangkok for a day of discussion and debate focused on three critical areas: Session 1: Energy security in emerging Asian markets: The “electro-state” strategy. As economies electrify, the foundations of energy security are shifting from imported fuels towards electricity systems, batteries and critical minerals. What will it take for emerging Asian economies to build resilience on this new foundation? Session 2: Beyond the PPA: Making grid and storage bankable in emerging Asia. Renewable generation is increasingly bankable across Asia, but investment in the grids and storage needed to support it continues to lag. How can public finance, development banks and private capital help close the gap? Session 3: Climate finance in Asia: From market-led to policy-led narratives. A decade of disclosure standards and voluntary commitments has not shifted capital at the scale decarbonization demands. What needs to change – and will the next phase of climate finance need to be driven more strongly by policy? This is an invitation-only event.
