Regional Civil Society Climate Action and Youth Leadership: From Local Practices to Regional Collaboration

About this event

Organized by the China Association for NGO Cooperation (CANGO) and held under the framework of Bangkok Climate Action Week 2026, this half-day thematic side event focuses on the integration of climate action, gender equality, and youth empowerment. Bringing together frontline civil society practitioners, youth leaders, and policy experts from China, Thailand and the broader Asia-Pacific and Southeast Asian regions, the event features community-based climate case sharing, short film screenings, fireside chats and a climate action marketplace. It showcases practical and innovative grassroots solutions from Chinese and Southeast Asian CSOs in climate adaptation, ecological conservation and inclusive low-carbon transition, with a strong focus on gender-inclusive approaches and youth-led initiatives. By linking national and regional policy frameworks with local on-the-ground practices, the event aims to amplify the leadership and participation of youth, particularly young women, in regional climate governance, address fragmented knowledge and resource gaps among regional civil society actors, and build a sustainable platform for regular exchange and long-term collaborative climate cooperation across China, Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.
