Sustainable Finance Pathways: China–Thailand–Southeast Asia

Capital is moving into climate and clean energy across Southeast Asia, and the instruments for directing it have multiplied. What is less clear is which of those instruments actually work across a border, and what it takes to get a deal done. This public forum brings that conversation into the open. Climate Finance Network Thailand and Greenovation Hub share preliminary findings from joint research on climate investment and finance across China and Thailand. The Capacity-building Alliance of Sustainable Investment then introduces instruments and platforms designed to support sustainable investment in emerging markets. The morning closes with a panel of practitioners who have issued, arranged or invested in sustainable debt across Thailand, China and the wider region. Rather than restating the case for sustainable finance, they work through what specific transactions actually required, where they nearly stalled, and which features transfer to other markets.
