Bangmot Bio-Cruise

The SAFETist Bio-Cruise is a low-carbon eco-tourism initiative hosted at SAFETist Farm in collaboration with the Araya Bangmot Creative Community Enterprise. Driven by the vision of Inclusive Climate Action, the program utilizes clean zero-emission electric boats—supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Thailand—to eliminate noise and air pollution along the Bangmot Canal. Partnering with Scripps College and the 30x30 Thailand Coalition for academic expertise, the cruise invites participants to explore, observe, and document local biodiversity, including native bird and plant species, establishing a crucial ecological database for future conservation. Beyond environmental protection, the project leverages a Citizen Science approach to empower youth and attendees as Active Environmental Citizens who can act as local explorers, eco-communicators, and community change-makers. Managed directly by the local community enterprise, the initiative boosts the grassroots economy by generating sustainable income for neighborhood vendors. Ultimately, it serves as a practical sandbox model to demonstrate environmental impact, paving the way for public policy push toward nationwide electric boat adoption and formal protection of urban canal green spaces.

Local BanBat - Walking Tour with Communities

Discover Bangkok beyond the usual landmarks through a community-based walking journey that connects heritage, local livelihoods, and sustainable urban living. Meet Ban Bat’s traditional artisans, observe the centuries-old craft of hand-forging Buddhist alms bowls, and explore the historic Rattanakosin area on foot, including panoramic views from the Golden Mount. This low-carbon experience supports local livelihoods and celebrates Bangkok’s living heritage—reflecting the spirit of Bangkok Climate Action Week and a more sustainable, resilient city.

The Exhibition "Un Monde Sans Fin" (World Without End)

Adapted from the bestselling graphic novel Le Monde sans fin by Jean-Marc Jancovici and Christophe Blain, this exhibition explores the fascinating relationship between energy, climate, and the history of humanity. Through humour, imagination, and accessible storytelling, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the rise of fossil fuels, humanity’s impact on the environment, and the challenges of climate change. From low-carbon energy and food to transportation and urban planning, World Without End invites us to reflect on the choices ahead—and the actions we can take towards a more sustainable future.

An exhibition about artificial reefs in Thailand, exploring the future of coral reefs and how collaboration between humans and nature can help. It reimagines what reef restoration can look like when art, science and community work together. Balancing Nature and Communities: Social Safeguards in Biodiversity Conservation

This panel will explore how conservation and restoration practitioners work with forest and coastal communities. Discussions will cover implementing free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) processes, developing inclusive livelihoods, addressing human-wildlife conflict, and ensuring that communities’ role in managing and protecting the environment is reflected in policy and public finance. Drawing on field evidence and experience, it will show how social safeguards and inclusive economic models can be implemented with communities. It positions women, people with disabilities, and customary rights holders as partners in design and decision-making from the outset. Effective conservation and climate action depend on their consent and on recognition of their knowledge and work.

Beyond the Forest: Stories of Governance, Justice, and Restoration is a photo exhibition that showcases community experiences of environmental governance in Indonesia. The exhibition highlights stories from policy advocacy, forest protection, law enforcement, rehabilitation, women’s leadership, community enterprises, and forest-based livelihoods. Through visual storytelling, the exhibition invites visitors to see how environmental governance works in practice. The exhibition will combine photos to make complex environmental governance more accessible to a broader public. We will create a space of experimentation by using visual media to connect people with environmental governance, an issue that may seem distant from everyday life, but in fact shapes communities, livelihoods, and climate futures.

Climate Fresk

EVENT WILL HOLD SIMULTANEOUSLY IN ENGLISH AND IN THAI (in 2 separate rooms at the same venue) 😀 You want to understand the key facts & elements about climate change and set yourself up for taking action? Then “Climate Fresk” is just what you need? A scientific, collaborative and creative workshop to learn about climate change in a fun way. Based on the IPCC report, translated into 50+ languages, the workshop explains the causes and consequences of climate change. It gives the opportunity to learn a lot in a short period of time and is designed for both beginners and experts. Already more than 2,400,000 participants in 160 countries and counting… 🌍 -- WHAT TO EXPECT -- You will work collaboratively with your team of 4 to 7 players. You will play with 42 cards and order them in cause-and-effect relationships. After building and personalising your Climate Fresk, it will be time to take a step back, to reflect on what you’ve learnt and then to start to think all together on how to act, individually and collectively. A trained facilitator will guide you and provide additional insights. Forest Voices, City Futures

Changes in forests may seem distant from urban life. Yet headwater forests are closely connected to water systems, ecosystems, and people’s quality of life. What happens to our forests can therefore have a greater impact on our cities than we might realise. This learning space invites participants to explore the connection between headwater forests and urban life, drawing on the real-world experience of the Thai Conservation of Forest Foundation. It aims to bring conservation closer to everyday life and deepen understanding of how forests are connected to water security, the environment, and our daily lives. Designed as an interactive learning experience, the programme combines storytelling, board games, and creative workshops. It creates a space for young people and other participants to exchange perspectives, learn together, and turn their understanding into ideas and actions that can begin with themselves, their schools, communities, or cities. By recognising that forests and cities are not separate from one another, we can better understand our own role and begin contributing to environmental change from where we are.

We need your help! We are developing a cycling map application designed to help people find lower-risk routes and make more informed decisions about where to ride in Bangkok. But we need your feedback to validate the prototype and make sure it responds to the risks that cyclists actually perceive—and helps you decide whether you can ride your bike where you want to go. Come join us at BKKCAW 2026 to try our early prototype and share your thoughts. We want to understand whether better information about cycling routes could make people feel more comfortable and willing to cycle in Bangkok. You can also meet the Bangkok Street Cyclists team, learn about what we do, and explore how we are challenging common myths and fears around cycling in Bangkok.

Live Cooking Show - Sambal from the Forest

Sambal from the Forest is a live cooking show featuring three sambals from three Indonesian forest landscapes. Through live preparation and informal conversations between the chef and the Puan Rimba women, visitors will learn where the ingredients come from and hear the stories of the women who prepare them. The program shows how women’s knowledge of food and forest resources supports household food security, community enterprises, sustainable livelihoods, and biodiversity protection. Using sambal as a familiar starting point, the program makes forest and climate issues easier to understand while highlighting food as part of culture and identity.

Long Table Dining Experience "Jamuan Puan Rimba": A Cuisine Shaped by the Forest

Jamuan Puan Rimba is a curated long table luncheon showcasing cuisine inspired by Indonesia’s forest landscapes. The luncheon will feature food and ingredients from South Sumatra, North Kalimantan, and West Nusa Tenggara. The courses will retain some original Indonesian dishes and preparations. In other courses, Chef Bo Songvisava of Bo.lan will combine Indonesian forest ingredients with local Thai ingredients and culinary techniques to create new Thai Indonesian dishes. This dining experience uses food as an entry point for understanding forests, community knowledge, local economies, and climate action. Through storytelling and shared dining, participants will experience how women’s leadership is connected to food systems, non-timber forest products, sustainable livelihoods, and forest governance. This approach has also offered communities a new economic model through eco-gastronomy tourism. By connecting forest stewardship, local food, and storytelling, communities can create visitor experiences that generate local income, strengthen women’s enterprises, and encourage the continued protection of forests and local knowledge in their respective villages.
