"What's On Our Plate?" A Conversation on Food, Climate, and What Makes Us Happy
What we eat matters—for our health, our happiness, and our planet. Climate experts tell us that shifting diets is one of the most powerful tools we have. Studies show that investing in plant-rich food systems delivers five times more climate impact per dollar than renewable energy. The ASEAN Carbon Neutrality Strategies for Agriculture charted pathways for climate-smart production—but what happens after the farm gate matters just as much. But here’s the thing: in ASEAN, where millions have only recently gained access to diverse, protein-rich diets after generations of food insecurity, the conversation about “diet shift” often feels disconnected from reality—imposed rather than invited. So instead of another expert lecture, we’re hosting a different kind of gathering. We’re bringing together food bloggers, home cooks, farmers, street food sellers, chefs, nutrition enthusiasts, and curious eaters to explore one simple question: Can food be delicious, make us happy, AND be good for the climate? This isn’t about guilt or giving up what we love. It’s about discovering what “responsible eating” actually looks like when it’s shaped by our own tastes, traditions, and realities—not by someone else’s playbook. The big questions: - What’s actually changing in the way ASEAN eats? More meat? More processed food? More diversity? What’s driving these shifts? - Is this good or bad for the environment—and for us? What does the evidence say, and what does it miss? - What would make us want to eat in ways that are better for the climate? What’s standing in the way? - Can “climate-friendly” food be tasty, affordable, and culturally meaningful—or is that a fantasy? The outcomes: - By the end of three hours, we want a clearer, collectively-built picture of: - What “responsible eating” means in the ASEAN context. Defined by those of us who actually cook, eat and live here - What “responsible value chains” look like—from farmers and producers to sellers and consumers - Practical ideas that participants can take back to their own spheres of influence

ACTIVATE Bangkok: Beyond the Station – Unlocking Sustainable Urban Mobility for a Compact, Connected, Climate-Resilient City
Bangkok is at a critical juncture in its urban development journey. As one of Southeast Asia’s largest and fastest-growing metropolitan areas, the city faces pressing challenges related to traffic congestion, urban sprawl, air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and unequal access to safe and affordable mobility options. These challenges not only affect quality of life and economic productivity but also hinder the city’s efforts to achieve its climate commitments and long-term sustainability goals. Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) offers a transformative approach to addressing these challenges by integrating land use, transport planning, and urban development. By promoting compact, connected, mixed-use, and walkable communities around high-capacity public transport corridors, TOD can reduce transport-related emissions, encourage active mobility, improve accessibility, and support more inclusive and resilient urban growth. The ACTIVATE Project, implemented under the Thailand–UK PACT programme, works in close collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and relevant national agencies to strengthen institutional capacity for climate-resilient and people-centred TOD. Through evidence-based planning tools, technical assistance, capacity building, and multi-stakeholder engagement, the project supports Bangkok in advancing sustainable urban mobility and accelerating the transition toward a low-carbon future. As part of Bangkok Climate Action Week, ACTIVATE Bangkok aims to create a platform for dialogue, learning, and public engagement on the future of sustainable urban mobility in Bangkok. Through a series of interactive exhibitions, panel discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions, the event will showcase how public transportation, active mobility, and people-centric urban design can contribute to climate action while creating healthier, more accessible, and more liveable communities. This event aims to bring policymakers, practitioners, transport operators, academia, civil society and citizens together over two days to explore how we can make transit safer, greener and easier to walk and cycling through, so that public transport becomes the natural choice for everyday journeys rather than a last resort. Over four sessions, this event will cover achievements and lessons from the ACTIVATE Bangkok project.

Eco-theatre "Roots"
In a world devastated by wars over resources, a lone soldier remains—the last survivor amidst ruins and the smoke of explosions. Amidst the pain, isolation, and despair born of the conflict's aftermath, he begins to question the meaning of existence and the cruelty of human actions. Yet, a mysterious call stirs his spirit, evoking memories of a world where humanity once lived in pure harmony with nature and all living beings. Note: This performance is an experimental student project created with the intention of raising awareness about biodiversity issues. We kindly ask for your understanding and apologize for any imperfections in this exploratory work.

Full Power Ahead: Building A Bench of Women Leaders
Building the Next Generation of Women Leaders in Energy Asia's energy sector is growing faster than ever, and the leaders it develops in the next few years will shape the transition for generations to come. Yet women remain under-represented in senior energy roles in Thailand and across much of the region. Most support for women in energy focuses on getting them into the sector. Far less goes to an equally critical point: when women first step into senior roles. In this interactive session, we'll hear from women leading in energy in Thailand and across Asia. Then funders and stakeholders will discuss what a support framework needs and who could build it. Together, we'll draft a short design brief for a first programme in Thailand, and possibly the wider region. By invitation, for around 30 participants from development finance, philanthropy, policy, industry and education. The session runs under the Chatham House Rule.

How to Land a Job in Climate: A Career Transition Workshop
🌱 Map Your Path into Climate: Career Transition Workshop From marketing at Shopee to campaigning at Greenpeace. From engineering to running solar operations. What does a career move like that actually take? When you’re considering a move into climate, the difficult part is often figuring out where you fit. You might have years of experience in communications, finance, operations, or technology; and still find yourself staring at a job description, wondering how much of that experience counts. That’s what we’ll explore together. Join Jobs that makesense Asia and Surge Climate Talent for an evening of career stories, guided reflection, and small-group conversations. We’ll look at the different kinds of work happening across the climate ecosystem, where your skills could contribute, and what you might need to learn next. 🎙️ Meet people who have found their own way in Pauline Rungruengwirachkij Digital Campaigner, Greenpeace Southeast Asia Pauline’s background is in SEO and brand management at Shopee. Today, she uses digital storytelling to support climate campaigns across Thailand. Her journey opens up a practical conversation about taking marketing experience into environmental work—and learning how to communicate for a different kind of outcome. Patcharin “Erng” Boobpha Director for People and Skills, Asia Clean Energy Partners Erng entered clean energy with a background in English and communications. Her work grew into operations, HR, and organisational development, and today she helps other professionals grow into the sector. She brings both sides of the career transition conversation: finding your own footing and understanding what helps someone succeed when they join a team. Pooky Mitchell Chief Operating Officer, Siam Sun Pooky’s route into solar began in engineering. After joining the Climate Career Accelerator, she moved into the energy transition and now oversees the operations, people, and systems behind a Bangkok solar startup. Her story makes the question of transferable skills very concrete: what can you bring with you, and what do you learn along the way? Muhammad Qaisar Finance & Energy Transition Fellow, Council on Economic Policies Qaisar’s work connects finance, policy, and the energy transition. His move from central banking into an independent think tank grew from wanting to understand the barriers businesses face and help policymakers respond. He brings a perspective on using an established specialism to tackle climate challenges from a new position. Mellyana Frederika Strategic Innovation Designer, UNDP Mellyana’s experience spans transport, technology, and international development. Now working on innovation and digital approaches at UNDP, including the circular economy, she brings a view of how a career can develop across sectors while connecting different kinds of expertise. Mellyana is joining in a personal capacity. 🛠️ Then, we’ll bring the conversation back to you We’ll start by making sense of the climate ecosystem and the skills organisations need. You’ll use the Climate Personality Test as a reflection tool, then join rounds of small-group conversations to explore different pathways with the speakers. Bring the questions that matter to your situation: how your experience translates, what the work looks like day to day, which gaps you may need to close, and how to explore a move alongside your current career. You don’t need to have it all figured out by the end of the evening. The aim is a clearer sense of where you could fit, and one next step you can take. 📅 Thursday, October 8, 2026 🕡 6:30–9:00 PM · Bangkok time (UTC+7) 📍 3A Creative Space, SlowCombo 🗣️ English and Thai, with translators available on site.

Low-Carbon Mobility for All: Bangkok's Pathways to Equitable and Sustainable Transport
This event is the culmination of a 2-year project looking at the socio-economic implications of setting up a congestion charge in Bangkok. The project involved different forms of primary data collection with Bangkok residents. We will share and discuss the findings that arose from the research, around processes of inclusion in policy-making, and how spatial, time, income and physical capacity inequities should be a key consideration in mobility research. This event is an output of a project funded by UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions).

Bangmot Bio-Cruise
The SAFETist Bio-Cruise is a low-carbon eco-tourism initiative hosted at SAFETist Farm in collaboration with the Araya Bangmot Creative Community Enterprise. Driven by the vision of Inclusive Climate Action, the program utilizes clean zero-emission electric boats—supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Thailand—to eliminate noise and air pollution along the Bangmot Canal. Partnering with Scripps College and the 30x30 Thailand Coalition for academic expertise, the cruise invites participants to explore, observe, and document local biodiversity, including native bird and plant species, establishing a crucial ecological database for future conservation. Beyond environmental protection, the project leverages a Citizen Science approach to empower youth and attendees as Active Environmental Citizens who can act as local explorers, eco-communicators, and community change-makers. Managed directly by the local community enterprise, the initiative boosts the grassroots economy by generating sustainable income for neighborhood vendors. Ultimately, it serves as a practical sandbox model to demonstrate environmental impact, paving the way for public policy push toward nationwide electric boat adoption and formal protection of urban canal green spaces.

This panel will explore how conservation and restoration practitioners work with forest and coastal communities. Discussions will cover implementing free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) processes, developing inclusive livelihoods, addressing human-wildlife conflict, and ensuring that communities’ role in managing and protecting the environment is reflected in policy and public finance. Drawing on field evidence and experience, it will show how social safeguards and inclusive economic models can be implemented with communities. It positions women, people with disabilities, and customary rights holders as partners in design and decision-making from the outset. Effective conservation and climate action depend on their consent and on recognition of their knowledge and work.

Beyond the Forest: Stories of Governance, Justice, and Restoration - Photo Exhibition
Beyond the Forest: Stories of Governance, Justice, and Restoration is a photo exhibition that showcases community experiences of environmental governance in Indonesia. The exhibition highlights stories from policy advocacy, forest protection, law enforcement, rehabilitation, women’s leadership, community enterprises, and forest-based livelihoods. Through visual storytelling, the exhibition invites visitors to see how environmental governance works in practice. The exhibition will combine photos to make complex environmental governance more accessible to a broader public. We will create a space of experimentation by using visual media to connect people with environmental governance, an issue that may seem distant from everyday life, but in fact shapes communities, livelihoods, and climate futures.

CCCL Film Festival at BKKCAW 2026
Changing Climate, Changing Lives (CCCL) Film Festival, under Tonkla Rak Lok Foundation, together with HERA, Hai-Jai, mlkywy.hub, Snappy Duck, and noble PLAY, presents “CCCL Film Festival at BKKCAW 2026,” a two-day program exploring the relationships between living beings, biodiversity, and the environments we share. taking place on 3–4 October 2026 at noble PLAY (Ploenchit BTS Station), the program consists of a curated selection of short films, photography and art exhibitions, and a conversation for filmmakers and environmental and social storytellers as part of Bangkok Climate Action Week 2026. The film program brings together a selection of outstanding Thai and international short films previously screened at CCCL Film Festival. From threatened wetlands to communities working together to protect their local ecosystems, the films invite audiences to consider the connections between living beings, biodiversity, and the changing climate, and how changes within one part of an ecosystem can affect everything around it. The program will also feature a screening of YANUNI on 4 October at 3:00 PM, directed by Richard Ladkani and co-produced by Leonardo DiCaprio. The documentary follows an Indigenous woman leader as she fights to protect her ancestral lands in the Amazon rainforest. Variety described the film as an environmental documentary that is “thrilling and romantic.” Alongside the film program, HERA will present a collection of 12 photographs documenting the impacts of rising urban temperatures on women, including how extreme heat affects their work and health. Hai-Jai and mlkywy.hub will also bring back some of the works from their BREATHE exhibition presented in late 2025, to this pop-up exhibition titled “BREATHE Again.” Bringing the works into a new context, the exhibition continues to explore stories, memories, and our relationship with the environment. On 4 October at 2:00 PM, Snappy Duck will host a conversation exploring the role and importance of environmental storytelling. The session will discuss the topic and exchange perspectives on how environmental stories can connect with audiences and explore ways to move these stories beyond awareness towards meaningful and sustainable change. Through film, exhibition, and conversation, CCCL Film Festival at BKKCAW 2026 creates a space to look at climate and environmental issues not only through data and information, but through the stories, experiences, and relationships that connect all living things.
